Bangalore witnesses maiden Rath Yatra in grand style

ImageAmid chants of 'Jai Jagannath and Haribol' the first ever Rath Yatra in Bangalore was celebrated in grand style and grandeur at Jagannath Temple here in the city on Friday.

Over 5 thousand Oriyas staying in Bangalore and adjacent areas throng to the Jagganath temple since morning to witness the Yatra.

Amidst chanting of Jai Jagannath coupled with the music of drums, cymbals, bugles and ghantas the thousands of devotees pulling the Chariot to Mausi Maa Mandir.

Hundreds of devotees offered fruits, flowers, prayers to the Lord, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra.
Expressing all joy, a 23 year Subhasree Nayak, who works in a software firm said, “Every year I used to go Puri to witness annual Rath Yatra. I could not go this year but, am feeling as if I were in Puri. I never feel that I am out side Orissa”.

Similar kind of feelings was expressed by a 56 year old devotees, who said “ After more than 5 years I got a chance to pull Rath again. I feel very happy to witness Rathyatra in out side Orissa.

The Karnataka Governor Rameswar Thakur was also witneses the maiden Rathyatra in Bangalore.

The Karnataka state police had made elaborate security arrangement during the Yatra.
