


City gears up for 61st Republic Day |

Bangalore has started tightening security measures since Saturday in view of the Republic Day celebrations on Tuesday.About 1,800 police personnel have been deputed to beef up security. The ceremonial Republic Day parade will be held at the Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground, Cubbon Road on Tuesday at 9 am. Governor HR Bharadwaj will receive the salute. Bangalore City Traffic Police have made traffic arrangements in and around the Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground (Brigade Parade Grounds). On Tuesday, traffic will be diverted from 8.30 am to 10.30 am from BRV Jn to Kamaraj Road Jn (both directions) on Cubbon Road. Also, due to security reasons, all invitees and people who will attend the parade, are requested not to carry mobile phones, cameras, handbags, radios, umbrellas and any other equipment to the parade ground, or else they will not be permitted inside. Parade Grounds under the scanner In order to arm the security network with sufficient surveillance, a total of 12 CCTVs have been installed in and around the Field Marshall Manekshaw Parade Ground. Twelve DCPs, 15 ACPs and 30 police inspectors have been especially deployed for the occasion. Besides, there will be three quick reaction teams including the City Armed Reserve (CAR) and the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP). People attending the parade are required to enter the venue by 8.30 am. Fire and ambulance services have also been placed on standby at the parade grounds. The Governor will reach the venue at 9 am. |
